Summer Murals
Atlanta
Parents of kids participating in The City of Atlantas Summer Murals program give it high marks. I am so pleased that the City has taken an interest in promising youth artists, writes one parent. Says another: I had the pleasure of being introduced to Mr. Hooper [the mural artist] while registering my kids for summer camp. In just that short moment, I knew he would be an inspiration to the kids. After the kids met him, all they talked about was Mr. Hooper and the mural.
From May to August, professional artists work with youth groups of 30 or more kids aged 7 - 13 to create murals for public spaces throughout Atlanta. The program takes place in camps and recreation centers close to the sites where the murals ultimately are installed, offering Atlanta youth cultural activities that inspire both creativity and a sense of community.
